relee2:37pm - For most of the last couple hours, and for some time yesterday too, I've been working on art, trying to make 'programmer art' sprites for my game. As usual I went full hog on it and made stuff that was simultaneously too good and unusable.
Lessons learned are helpful but I want something I can use and reuse. I've made and lost 'programmer art' basic dudes too many times and after searching on itch.io I realized there's a niche there to be filled, so when I get a sprite sheet done I'm going to publish it there for pwyw/free. I'm doing it in grayscale so it's easy to recolour/tint, too.
It's a lot of work, though, and not my specialty, so maybe it's a mistake? Whatever, it's what I'm doing...
I'm going to try making a sort of 'Gumdrop' character next. Kind of a truncated capsule.
4:19pm - Getting bored of Pixel Arting. Gonna do something else for a while. It's probably okay, I've apparently been at this almost four hours.
7:24pm - I wasn't able to play any video games but I did run an errand, eat a weird meal, and watch a few anime episodes. I think I can get back to work now.
7:32pm - Now that I look the sheet over though, I'm not sure what else to do with it right now. I want it to have an attack animation, but it's a bit daunting after all the work I've already put in, and it's only nine frames/poses.
7:51pm - Now though I'm getting surprisngly tired, exhausted even. I may take a longer break, or even stop for today.
Hmm... I have other things to do today though, so I'll just leave this open for now and either come back to it or finish it later.
1:40am - Well I napped a bit, got up and made dinner, ate dinner and watched some YouTube with some friends, and now I guess I'm going back to bed. I'll have to work some more tomorrow.
