relee4:06pm - Though I had a hard time admitting it to myself, I've just accepted that I'm working, and so I should have a work post going.
I'm actually laying in bed goofing around but in my head and on my screen I'm trying to figure out what to do with myself, and that's a kind of work.
1) I can work on my Zeldalike project. I don't want to do that right now because I feel like laying down.
2) I can research Vircadia more. I've been investigating Vircadia on and off for the last few days. It's a relatively new, FLOSS, virtual world system. Sort of like VRChat meets Second Life. I'm thinking about contributing to it. That would take getting up and working on it, too. That said, there are parts I could look at while I'm laying here in bed.
Incidentally I have tested it, and it works, but I haven't connected online yet.
What I could do with Vircadia is look into the coding guidelines and also look at how I'd go about compiling the whole thing. I can't do either in practice on my Chromebook obvs but I can do research on them that might inspire me to get up later.
3) I can work on that story for a friend of mine. I'm still procrastinating on it, and I think part of the problem is my Perfectionism/Fear of Failure. I want to make it as good as it can be and I'm afraid of messing it up, so I just don't touch it. That's no way to finish it, though.
I'm probably going to start with 2 and move to 3 if I can't get myself up after the research. I also want to go to a festival downtown with my Roommate (masked up of course!) but we won't be going until he's done his stream at least, and that gives me around two hours I figure.
So, let's get started with Vircadia research I guess.
5:34pm - I'm getting hungry so I'mma get a snack, then play a game I think.
I ended up looking through some of the Vircadia code and chatted up one of the core devs, and it seems pretty good. They told me about a "Good First Issue" label they use, so I have a few things I might try to fix for them. They also told me the history of the project, which was really cool.
