1:44pm - Just settling in at McDonalds. My usual spots with the outlets are taken so I'm waiting for one to open up. There's a small family at the table with an outlet and I'm probably going to snipe it when they finish their meal. I still have a salad to eat before I really dig into work, but I've got a good idea of what to do today.
Unity has a couple of Live Training Sessions on text games, and I remembered last night that I had forgotten one of the goals for my game was to have text descriptions of the rooms in my dungeons etc. So I'm going to see if there's anything I can learn from these live sessions.
2:40pm - Okay I looked into the text game tutorials but I'm not sure there's anything much to use there. I'd have to do my stuff in a different way.
So, let's see...
I can probably do the text descriptions of rooms by using some sort of area effect. They could be squares or 'circles' and display their description when the player is in range.
4:11pm - I got distracted by a bunch of people messaging me on Discord, then I ended up looking for help on the Roguelike Discord's Roguelike Dev channel. One of them mentioned Quill18's tutorials to someone and I remembered seeing them before, and so I went to check them out and I've been doing that for like, an hour I guess.
I'm surprised I've only been here for around 2.5 hours. I'm already getting hungry again, and I had a nice meal when I got here. I'm not sure what I'd want to have though, and it's pretty expensive. Getting just the basic McDouble or Jr. Chicken with a Salad or Fries and a Drink I can refill is pretty low in price, but individual items tend to be as expensive as all that put together. For example, I think I have a coupon on my phone for a Seriously Chicken sandwich for $5, the same price as all that put together, just for a sandwich. XD
And yet, I'm tempted to take them up on that offer. A Seriously Chicken sandwich would certainly keep the hunger down for a while.
Geez I'm a McDonalds ad now aren't I? :P
5:41pm - It's been almost four hours since I got settled in at the McDonalds and I think I'm going to head home now. I'd really like to play a video game with some friends. So, I'll go home and do that.
I'll probably watch some more of Quill18's tutorials later. His Project Porcupine looks pretty good! But I wonder why he stopped doing it a year ago? It doesn't say...
