4:06pm - Well! I'm down at McDonalds again today, though my usual spot is full of trash. I'm hoping someone cleans it up but nobody has come to do that yet, even though there's a guy who's been cleaning other things for a while now. I'd clean it myself but I'm afraid to touch other people's trash with my bare hands, especially this kind.
My first task today is on a different project from usual, a third project you might say. I'm making a game with the guys, but we're having trouble getting started. I thought it would be a fun project to make an RPG Maker game with them, but so far all we've done is come up with some possible setting elements. It's probably going to be a scifi game though. Maybe like Phantasy Star? Which is awkward since I've never played any of the Phantasy Star games except a brief toe-dip in the first one some years ago.
Anyways a couple things the other guys asked for were a Gummi-ship style interworld minigame, which I don't think I want to do even if it's possible in RPGMMV because it would be very hard to implement and I'm not sure it would be a popular feature, and timing based attacking, which might be possible? That's what I intend to try and figure out today, if I can. But it's been so long since I used RPG Maker MV that I don't remember how to use it very well, let alone how to mod it. So I'll start there.
6:04pm - Okay I haven't done any actual programming but I did make a very basic RPG Maker game start. So, that's something. Took me two hours though. I should probably take a break, and then either try to work on this some more, or work on something else.
6:55pm - I've been feeling really burned out on video games lately. It's a struggle to play anything more than a couple minutes. I'm not sure what else to do with myself. I considered reading but that's hard for me to start too. I spent most of the last hour playing "Realm Grinder", a clicker game. It's not very fun or engaging though. I mostly just play to see what'll happen next. I'd like to play something more fulfilling.
The current game I'm playing most is Warframe, and that's unavailable at McDonalds. They're blocking the ports Warframe uses. Anyway I don't feel comfortable playing online games at McDonalds like that.
In any event it's been an hour since I went 'on break' so I should do some work now.
For my Roguelike Project I've got making the movement code for actors down as my next task. But I'm not sure I feel like doing that.
I don't feel like working more on the RPG Maker thing either, or on the other project.
I'm not sure what to do with myself. If I went home I could play Warframe for a little while, but as I said I'm feeling pretty burned out on video games lately.
Right now I'm thinking about going home and updating my version of Unity. They just recently released the second 2018 release and it has some new features, particularly some for platformers, and I think Ludum Dare is happening in a month again. It might make me seem like a broken record to make another 2D platformer in Unity for Ludum Dare but I think I could make some interesting changes.
So yeah there's that, but if I leave I have to face the fact I'm probably going to end up in bed not doing anything but what I just said for the next three hours before Pathfinder. My Pathfinder day got switched to Tuesdays 'cause one of our members had to switch jobs.
My brain's being pretty hard on me. I worked for two hours but I feel like I didn't accomplish anything. Yet I can say with some confidence that I did accomplish something. It's just not complete or what I set out to do.
7:49pm - It's been a while now, I've just been spinning off into space, reading twitter and getting angry for no good reason. I think it's time to just go home already.
