5:48pm - So let's get back to it. I've got a list of needs and I need to figure out how to fill them in and out of the house.
Inside the house environs there'll be a pantry, a kitchen, a water barrel, an outhouse, a bathing tub, and chairs, and each bedroom should have a bed, a washbasin and a chamber pot.
That should satisfy the needs of the people at the bottom level, Phisiological Needs. Then comes the Safety level.
Most Safety needs can be ignored in this early version. Nothing can injure the people or harm them emotionally yet.
Having a house assigned will satisfy the Shelter need. Having a full Pantry will satisfy the Food Storage need. I'll also give the house a chest to store valuable things like money in, for the Money need.
The higher needs we won't be simulating until I can get the social interaction set up. But that doesn't have any room for work. That'll come along with the Money need. When it's not satisfied they'll want to find a job if they haven't got one. If they can't find one they might beg? We'll see. Likewise with the Pantry. If they can't keep it full they'll go to greater lengths to fill it.
So I guess those are the basic needs covered. I don't have an entertainment need, though. Hopefully the people will be satisfied with work and social interaction.
6:18pm - Now that I know what goes into a house environment I can start building them. I'll make different sized house prefabs so that they can be 'upgraded' for larger families.
I still need to set up places to work though, also. There'll need to be places that produce food and water for the pantry and water barrel. That'll be a farm and well. Then, I won't use the results just yet, but I'll need building materials. So a quarry, a lumber forest, and mines for metal. Of course, irl there's lots of different kinds of stone and ore, and lots of metals too, and lots of types of wood! Not to mention all the types of food. We'll keep things simple while I'm developing the AI though. They go to work and get money and spend that money at the farm to buy food.
Of course the work places need to satisfy their phsiological needs too. They should have a place to rest and eat your lunch, and an outhouse. Those should satisfy I think.
Alright now I know what to build, but I'm not in a position to build it right now, so I'll end here and pick up another time.
