Work Post

8:47am - Well, I ended up coming out a lot later than I expected. I accidentally fell asleep for a few hours after getting off my lappy in the morning, when I was planning to come out. It's probably for the best though, since it puts me on a more diurnal schedule.

Anyways I'm out at the McDonalds now and today I'm getting back into the coding!

9:11am - Well that was a bit of an eating delay... Anyways let's look at what needs to be done.

The last things I did were putting the new event system in and taking the movement code out.

I need to figure out where I want the input handler to go so I can put movement and things back in. I had it on the player character before, but that's not a good place for it since the input handler needs to handle input from lots of sources. It should always be in the scene, but I can't make it a ScriptableObject 'cause it depends on input events.

I guess I'll put it on the Camera with the SceneInitializer.

10:01am - I lost some focus after doing a lot of tight work putting together movement events, and then started looking for local game studios on a whim to see if anybody new had popped up. Also I can hardly believe I haven't been working more than an hour! It feels like longer. Wow.

11:24am - After a while of being unable to focus or really want to work, I decided to play a video game for a bit. Ultimately picked Duelyst, which was fun and I played a few battles. Now I'm going to try to work some more.

11:53am - Uh oh, I think I just found a problem with my game's architecture...

The Turn List is a Scriptable Object, so it doesn't get most Unity events. I was expecting to use it to manage the game in a turn by turn way, but it looks like I'll have to depend on an object in the scene to handle it.

I really need to figure more of this stuff out in advance. I'm free-coding too much for such a large project.

But I don't feel like doing that now. The McDonalds is getting pretty busy now that it's about noon. I think I'm going to pack up and head home now.

Congrats with coding more. :) I hadn't heard of Duelyst before but it looks like a fun strategy game based on the screenshots I saw.
