5:43am - I talked with a friend and he convinced me to keep trying with my Transformation Survival game, but at this point I still don't know exactly what I need to do to proceed. So, figuring that out is my first goal.
I thought earlier about making a miniature version of the transformation to experiment with, and I think that's a good idea.
I'll do a simplified arm to start wtih. Hand, forearm, and upper arm.
You got bit on the hand!
Your hand seems to melt and change shape, reforming into a black fox hand!
Your forearm seems to melt and change shape, reforming into a red fox forearm!
Your Upper arm seems to melt and change shape, reforming into a red fox upper arm!
That seems pretty bland, but at least it's a start.
I think that every TF type should have its own 'TF style', though they may be copied. That's the "seems to melt and change shape" part of the text, that describes how the TF works. There could also be multiple TF style phrases to choose from, but I'd like them to be similar for each TF.
Let's try that transformation again with a bit more detail, and different TF style phrases.
You got bit on the hand by the Humanoid Fox!
Your hand seems to melt and change shape, and its pale flesh turns to black fur. Your hand has changed into a Humanoid Fox hand!
Your forearm melts down as it changes shape, and its pale flesh turns to red fur. Your forearm has changed into a Humanoid Fox forearm!
Your upper arm itches then melts slightly, and its pale flesh turns to red fur. Your upper arm has changed into a Humanoid Fox upper arm!
That time I mixed up the transformation phrases and added the simultaneous change of the skin type from pale flesh to red or black fur.
I was just talking with my friend some more and he suggested that instead of writing the transformation type in the transformation notification, I just write how the transformation works and where, and let the player look at their body description to see what changed. That saves me from having repeated descriptions of the part and lets me focus on the description of the transformation.
So that would look something like this:
You got bit on the hand by the Humanoid Fox!
Your hand seems to melt and change shape!
Your forearm melts down as it changes shape!
Your upper arm itches then melts slightly, changing shape!
That's a bit easier to read, but I wonder about things like the sensuality of transformation.
9:10am - I spent a few hours studying the competition for inspiration and now I'm tuckered out.
