relee8:28am - I've been foolin' and fiddlin' around, not really doin' anything but drifting in and out of sleep since midnight. I've been out of bed about an hour and a half. Made and ate a couple sandwiches but I'm not feeling very enthusiastic. I guess I'm a little excited for Ludum Dare but that doesn't start until 9pm tonight, and chances are good I'll be asleep then. XD
I've been thinking about getting started on more World of Thardomhainn. Gotta make that Tile Grid after all. I'm worried though that the reason I've been working just SO HARD on my games the last week is that I'm hiding from the rest of the world. For all the hard work, this is a comfortable place for me, where I have power and control. Anything else I consider doing lately, my head and my heart shut down right away. It took so much effort just to make those sandwiches earlier.
Anyways that's my worry. Maybe it's just for nothing, but it's a thought I have.
Now then, that tile grid.
I was just setting up the TileGrid game object when I thought of something, I'm going to want to make maps by hand. I've got a couple ideas on how to do that, and they're both pretty strange.
* I could make a map in the Unity editor by putting down tile by tile and have the TileGrid read their positions and straighten them out.
* I could make an automatically generated tile grid, and change the tiles that were already placed.
Alright now that I've spelled them out the second one seems much better.
So I'm going to put together a script component for the TileGrid that will hold references to all its tiles in a list of lists.
9:35am - I got really distracted by Discord chats. Still need to make that TileGrid component.
9:42am - I'm thinking that in order to get this grid really working, I'm going to want it to change size in the editor when I change its size parameters. I don't know much about Editor scripting though so I'm going to research that for a bit.
10:26am - It looks like I should be able to do it if I write a custom inspector, but I'm having emotional troubles staying focused. I'm thinking I'll chill out a bit, maybe go to the library to work, and continue then.
