4:44pm - Well, my ear infection is still going, though I think the medicine is helping. Despite that, it's Ludum Dare this weekend and I intend to participate.
It's been a while since I've done anything besides planning World of Thardomhainn, so I need to get myself ready for Ludum Dare. Ideally I want to make something other than a 2D platformer this time; that's what I did the last two times and I think I've got that done. That said, I'm not saying I won't make another 2D platformer if the theme or my own inspiration calls for it.
The first thing I'm going to do is follow one of the new Unity tutorials, and see where it takes me.
5:14pm - La la la, downloadin' the example project...
While I wait I might as well mention the troubled looking fellow here in the nook with me. I'm not sure but I'd guess he's homeless, and he seems exhausted. It looked like he nearly knocked over his stuff earlier when he was nodding off, and when I came back from the washroom a bunch of his stuff was on the floor, so I'm guessing he wasn't so lucky the second time. :/
I'd sort of like to help him, but I'm also scared of him a little bit. Plus I feel like if I offered help he'd be offended. I don't know why but I feel like I'd be offended if I was in that position and someone offered me help when I wasn't asking for it. Alas.
Anyways the download's done now. So let's try out Unity's tower defense game.
6:44pm - Well it took a while but I beat all five levels of the Tower Defense Game. Not a bad TD game actually. Now I have to learn how it works. The tutorial for making a new tower doesn't say where to create the scriptable objects it tells you to make. Probably you could put them anywhere, but it seems like this pre-built tutorial has a proper heirarchy and I want to follow it.
Oh wait it does say where to put it, it just says it on a later step for some reason...
6:49pm - Now that I've played the game and started reading the tutorials related to it, I can see that I could learn quite a bit from it... but not for a Ludum Dare game.
...
The man sitting at the table across from me just dipped his hamburger in a ketchup cup before taking a bite. o.o;;
He must really like ketchup!
Anywaaaaaaaaaaaays I'm at least feeling more comfortable in the Unity editor again. I normally make some base code for a genre I want to design in before Ludum Dare but this time I think I'll wait until the theme is announced.
That said, I'm not sure what more I can do to prepare here. ^.^;;
Maybe I should go back to working on my main project?
7:03pm - I tried working on my main project for a bit but my ear started hurting again and doesn't feel comfy with my headset on it anymore. What's more I can't stand the noise here without my own noise to block it out. So I guess it's time to go home. :/
