10:40pm - The Extra Credits Game Jam 4 snuck up on me and caught my interest, and so I'm giving it a try again. This time the theme is Connect and I'm having a hard time coming up with a game to match it.

The closest match I've come up with is a match 3 game where you connect pieces, but that's a little too old hat to get on Extra Credits I think.

I asked on the Extra Credits Game Jam discord what everyone is doing and one idea was a pet sim. That's an interesting idea.

11:49pm - Still trying to come up with a good idea. Toying with the idea of tower defense now, trying to figure out how to 'connect' the towers.

2:37am - I've been wracking my brain but I still haven't come up with something I want to make for the jam.

4:19am - Still no great idea. If I'm going to participate at all I need to nail down a game and get started. I think I'll just go with my first instinct and make a match 3 game.

Alright I'm going to leave this for now and go to McDonalds in a bit, I work better there. Then I'll continue.

5:34am - Alright I'm at the McDonalds now and getting ready to start programming.

I'll be making a Match 3 game in Unity. I'll start by making the basics, an eight by eight grid of sprites with seven colours and shapes.

6:33am - Alright now I spent an hour making sprites. Technically I did it twice, since I started by making my own, then realized I could get better open source ones and edit them.

6:51am - Okay how am I gonna organize this... I think the tiles will each be a GameObject, inside of a superobject called GameBoard.

The GameBoard will have a GameBoardController script that will control the GameBoard.

7:13am - It occured to me that there might be tutorials for this kind of thing on YouTube to save me some trouble. I found one pretty quick that was building it similarly to what I had thought of, so that's great.

9:00am - Progress is progressing pretty well. I'm already diverging quite a bit from the way the tutorial does things, but he's covering a lot of the math and gotchas I'd have had to figure out myself, so I'm happy.

10:57am - I'm kinda stuck on an error at the moment, it keeps saying I've got an object reference not set to an instance of an object, but I don't see how it's not set. It doesn't make sense to me.

I'm super hungry though so I'm going to take a break for lunch.

11:55am - Back to work, and I solved that error too.

12:02am - A bug has arisen. It happens when I move the tiles twice in a row. Not sure what's causing it, and I have to admit I'm too tired and burned out to do anymore without some sleep. So, I'mma go home now.
