12:25pm - I've been really low-energy lately and struggling to find inspiration to work. What little I have is wrapped up in the fickle idea of making a multiplayer online platformer. To that end I've started watching the Udemy lessons for Unity Networking. But it's really hard to find the will to do anything...
I'm going to give the next lesson a watch now.
2:32pm - Well I managed to watch a couple hours of lessons, so that's pretty good. I'd like to do more but I'm a little bored and hungry, so I'm going to take a break before continuing. I'm also going to move to McDonalds after I finish my break, so it'll be a bit before I'm back studying.
4:45pm - At the McDonalds now, and getting back into studying.
5:38pm - Oh for goodness sake! I just went to look up some info in the unity documentation, and it turns out their multiplayer system that I've been studying is deprecated! They're going to be stopping support of it over the next year or two, and are expecting games that use it to move to their new solution that isn't out yet, or to a third party solution.
I'm very upset by this. Not mad or anything, just shaken up. I'm not sure what to do now. I guess my Multiplayer 3D Platformer World idea will have to wait or jump to a different platform or something.
7:24pm - Now I'm looking at Godot as an alternative, though I'm not sure it's for me. The scripting language is different and I'm told not everything is as well supported. It's open source though and still has its networking code in place.
8:14pm - I'm tired and spent and I've been working... Probably seven hours if I take away the time I spent playing games and walking to McDonalds. That's a lot of work!
I'm going to try and learn Godot for now, unless I get a bug up my butt about my other projects and want to work on them instead. I'm mostly focused on IRL concerns right now so it's hard to think about my projects. We'll see how it goes.
Thanks for reading!
