2:32am - Well now that was a long sleep. Well, a long sleep followed by four hours of hanging out with the guys. C'est la vie! Back to work on the game jam game.

The first thing I'll be adding is a key that unlocks the exit door.

3:13am - Well the key works now and opens the door properly, but when I set up my level I realized my player can't jump very high, compared to the tileset. So I upped his jump power, and that worked, but I had to change the jump animation to not loop, and that worked, but I've realized that you can't cancel out of a jump before it's completed, which is important for platformers I'm told.

So we'll have to deal with it!

3:29am - Alright I've fixed the jump. Also I changed the fall animation to not loop also and it also looks better, also.

Next up I'll make an obstacle that can defeat the player. SPIKES!

4:04am - I have spikes now and they kill the player.

Now I'm going to make a pair of mobile enemies. I happen to have a couple of animated zombies from the same CC0 site as my protagonist, so they should fit.

4:35am - Alright the zombie walks! Now the next thing I need to do is handle wall collisions, and then after that player collisions. But first, I've been working two hours. It's time for a break!

5:26am - Okay, I've decided to move work to McDonalds next, so I'mma finish this Work Post and start another when I get there. I'm not sure if I'll go right away or take a nap, first, though, so we'll see when that is.

2:24pm - I ended up going into a sleep-like trance for the rest of the morning, then went for groceries with my roommate. Now I'm at the McDonalds and its time to do more work.

First, zombie wall detection!

2:42pm - Zombie wall detection seems to work, though it also turns when it hits the player. I think I'll try a different method, since I want to know when it hits the player and have it attack instead.

3:00pm - Okay the Zombie Boy is done. I think I'll save the Zombie Girl for a bonus target after I get the rest of the game done.

Next up I can either do sounds or the GUI and level system. I think I should probably do sounds at this point because I'll want them for my GUI etc.

I haven't actually done sound with Godot yet so first I'll need to learn how...

4:11pm - My game now has music and sound effects. It turns out it's actually pretty easy in Godot to do that sort of thing.

Next up is a GUI of sorts, but mostly the game's main menu and level loader.

4:28pm - Put some instruction text in level 1 so that players know the controls. I also took level 1 off the main node, so it can be loaded from the main menu.

6:31pm - Two hours later, I've added in a Main Menu, You Win!, and You Were Defeated! screens, and hooked them into the game. Everything seems to be working, but I'm getting hungry again so I might get some more food.

After that, I'm ready to make more levels...

7:17pm - Alright I had a meal and took a break to watch some YouTube videos, and now I'm feeling refreshed. It's getting lateish though, so I'd better make some levels and test the game upload.

7:59pm - Had some weird errors in my debugger saying that certain functions weren't working, despite the fact they clearly were. Still, if they're not meant to be used like that, they're not. So I changed them to the functions reccomended by the error descriptions, and now everything seems peachy.

9:17pm - I have four levels now. One to introduce each game element, and one for the player to demonstrate mastery of them. If I'm going to add any more levels I'll want to add more game elements, and I don't think I have time for that now. So, I'm going to try and export the game and upload it to Itch.io.


9:58pm - And that's that! The game is exported and uploaded to Itch.io and it seems to be working fine so far. I'm going to have my friends help test it before I give it a final sendoff, and I may change some more things. But for now, it's late and I want to go home.
