relee5:15pm - Boy I slept in late today. But here I am, ready to work apparently, since I've already started. I talked to Zax and got him to give me the latest build he's working on so I can modify the code as needed. He also explained the first thing he'd like me to do; he wants me to make it so that we can use custom fonts in the menus. Yanfly's got a plugin that lets you change fonts in message boxes, and it's already a part of the game, so I'm first going to see if I can use that without changing the code. If neccesary, I'll dive in and change it, but it seems like the MainMenuManager plugin takes code for most of its options, and hopefully that means I can just call the 'change font' function added, whatever that may be. We'll see.
5:52pm - Well that was easy, I didn't even have to change any code or anything. The Yanfly Engine Core has a default font option. Change the default font, and it changes the font in all the menus. We'll see if that satisfies Zax.
5:56pm - Alright the next thing Zax asked for was to have icons next to the Menu commands.
7:28pm - Wow, that took a while, but while trying things out I ended up finding a public domain Plugin that does what Zax wants, or something close to it. I should be able to edit it no problem to do what he wants.
7:40pm - Zax isn't replying right away so he's probably busy. I'm thinking of making a simple game in RPG Maker MV to figure out a bit more about the capabilities and limitations of the engine.
7:56pm - The more I think about it, creating even a small sample JRPG in RMMV would be a huge undertaking, with lots of writing and mapmaking and encounter designing and all that. I might as well be working on Zax's game, or making something else, like World of Thardomhainn with my spare time.
8:10pm - I'm not entirely sure what happened in the last 14 minutes but time passed. I'm not sure what to do with myself now. I was hoping to hear back from Zax after finding that plugin but he hasn't replied. I think he's probably busy.
So! Free time! I could work on World of Thardomhainn, but I kind of don't want to right now. But then there's my old standby argument of "What else am I gonna do, then?" and usually that gets me back to work. But I'm feeling kind of hungry and I don't know if I have the proper amount of brain power right now to do any serious programming.
I'm not sure what to do about that, though, either. I'd kind of like to go out and get something to eat, but that costs money, and also a walk out in that weather.
Hmm... Google says it's +3 so it's not that bad. On the other hand, Rob'll be home in less than two hours and we usually eat together. I know he was hoping I'd make some potatos to go with the frozen meat pies we got before, but I'm not sure I want to do that.
Bleh. I really just want to eat something nice from outside. Maybe I'll order from Thaun Kieu and pick it up. That's only like $12... *Sigh*
