relee3:35am - I'm down at the McDonalds again and it's being interesting again. A chatty fellow was in the spot I like to sit when I got here. Fortunately he didn't stick around long, but he seems to still be in the store bugging some other folks. Alas.
4:40am - Okay I just spent an hour looking at the Twitters. Hopefully I didn't say anything too offensive to my watchers. ^.^;;
4:45am - Okay okay I'm a little bit disorientated now. I need to focus in on my work and actually do something. ^.^
Right! Last time I stopped where I had realized I needed to add more properties to determine behavior from.
Right now I've got It and LastIt, which are boolean flags. If you're it then you're trying to chase down another player. If you're LastIt then you behave as normal, but there's no tagbacks so the It player won't chase you. Everybody who's not It or LastIt should behave as if they're not it, but there are basically three states now. Chase, Flee, and Wander. To know if you should Flee or Wander you need to know if you can sense the player who's it, and likewise, the player who's it has to know who the closest player is for them to decide who to chase.
So, there should be a property "SeeIt" for if you cansee the player who is it, and probably a "HearIt" property for the hearing sensor too. I'm including that one because players who are being chased won't be looking at the player who's it, they'll be running, but they should still have a sensor to detect them.
Then there should also be a SeeTarget and HearTarget for the player who is it, to determine if they can see and/or hear a target player.
We'll see if that's enough as I go on.
5:46am - Alright I'm getting a little wound down, but I'm making some progress. I added the actions I detailed above and I set up considerations for them in the AI. Next I'll have to do the scripting for the AI behavior itself. In other words, the brains should know what they're doing, I just need to connect the nerves to the body.
I'm going to take a break before that though. I'm not sure what I'll do but I need to chillax a bit before I work some more.
7:26am - Geez gravy, I thought I was only on break for an hour... Mmmph. And rather frustratingly I don't feel like doing any more work now either.
I think I'll treat myself to a light breakfast then go home and play until Robby gets up. I made a little progress today, and that's something.
