2:41pm - Alright let's get down to business again!
I was trying to sort out what I needed to do to finish the prototype last time.
My plan for what to do next is to put in an animated sprite for the main character, so I can get those systems built.
Other than that I'll try to be more general. For example, I need to make the seven areas of the world. Then I'll add in the NPCs for the trade game. Then I'll start working on the encounter system. So, the three routes will need encounter points spread out amongst them. I'll probably just put one encounter point in the middle of each of them for testing.
3:52pm - I got heckin' distracted. Got a phone call, and watched some videos. Now let's continue...
The encounter points will need stuff to encounter. I'll probably keep it to three types for the prototype. There'll be either monsters/banditos, a traveller going in the other direction, or nothing.
After that I'll work out the system that tracks which routes your using and alternates the enemy odds.
That should be enough for the prototype.
3:59pm - So now I'll start looking for some sprites to use for the prototype.
7:03pm - 5pm came on suddenly while I was about to buy an asset pack for cheap that looks like it has everything I need. If you're curious, it's this: https://canarigames.itch.io/canaripack-8bit-topdown
I probably won't use it for the game after a certain point, but for the prototype it'll make things read better and give me some sprites to use for the characters.
7:26pm - Next I need to figure out how I'm going to handle the animations in Godot. As far as I know it doesn't have a simple animation system like Unity does. So, I might have to do it the hard way, through scripting. Or I might not. We'll see what I can dig up.
8:06pm - Like yesterday it's 8pm and I'm crashing pretty hard. I think I'm going to take a nap before tonight's call. I did find some good resources for Godot's animation system. It's a bit different from Unity's but it's better than I thought, so that's good.
Well, ta for now I suppose.
