4:33pm - The Little Acre is done! That was sure quick though. I think that was less than six hours in total. Maybe four! Short but sweet, though it also left some questions unanswered. It feels like it could've been longer. Ahh well. Good experience.
I'm not sure what to do now, though. I've watched a bunch of videos about Point and Click Adventure design and puzzles in Point and Click Adventures. Heard about the cat moustache in all of them. Who thought that was a good idea? Maybe they just thought it would be funny.
5:38pm - I ended up playing Dwarf Fortress for an hour. That was nice. Built my first inn/tavern and everybody's dancing.
I've been thinking about my Zeldalike Generator as well. I've been reading a lot about generators, is part of the reason I was inspired to make that. In the reading I've een doing though there's a lot of things about meaning. I'm pretty sure I could make a Zelda generator, that makes whole Zeldalike games, with as much variation as I'm willing to work into it. But I'm not sure I could make a generator that would make Zeldalike games as good as I could make on my own, being the Zeldalike generator myself.
The other thing is, when I think about what drives someone to play a generated game, like a Roguelike, I'm not sure that's present in the Zeldalike framework. If you go to Binding of Issac, it's sort of a Zeldalike, but as far as I know there aren't any real puzzles. The closest it gets is giving you the choice to bomb this or that thing sooner or later, but that feels more like a gamble to me.
Anyways I'm not sure if I'm going to turn around and make a Zeldalike game, which I'd like to do btw, I've talked about that before. But I probably won't continue on the Zeldalike generator.
6:53am - I've spent the last hour and such talking with friends about games and game design and ideas and story writing and all sorts of things. I'd say it's been productive without having a specific goal.
But now it's time to rest, to think, perchance to dream.
